Churchill the Football Manager

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Sir Winston Churchill
was a truly great man,
but just imagine if
he’d been a football fan.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 As the manager of England
his words would motivate,
he’d lift the players morale
and make poor players great.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 His teams would be tough on the pitch
and would never ever give up,
he’d lead them out to battle
and win them the World Cup.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He’d instill a bulldog spirit
his team talks would excite,
they’d never surrender a lead
and not go down without a fight.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 You’d see him on the touchline
shouting for his striker to shoot,
and with a big cigar in his mouth
he’d give the crowd his V sign salute.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 And if they played the Germans
and it went to a penalty shoot out,
his England warriors wouldn’t miss
as the victory would never be in doubt !

Notes

As it’s the anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill’s death I thought I’d pay my respects to the great man in the only way I know how and that it is in football verse.
It’s just a light -hearted poem and not meant to lessen what he did as a leader as he is probably the greatest ever Englishman that has ever lived.
How my team could do with someone with his qualities right now !
