Close Encounter.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Asked to play out on the wing down The Den
Greavsie uttered, “Nah, sorry boss, never again
Been here before, couple a times in The Cup
Bleating dockers trying a kick me, tripping me up
I’ve played centre forward here, ever since…then”.

Notes

Ah…The Den, former lair to The Lions, Millwall. F. C. in South East London. The most intimidating ground, I’ve visited…twice (in London derbies as a a neutral) and both times haunt me to this day! Flying fleet footed wingers plying their trade close to the touch-line, seemingly within touching distance of the preying punters, half expected to be tugged off the pitch by their shell-like, simply for the fun of it, at any given moment, by some burly no-nonsense nautical, from the local docks, supporting the home team.
