Come off it, Ref!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 A scene of great commotion,
Of push and shout and shove.
Of highly-charged emotions,
Appeals to God above.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The ball had clearly crossed the line,
‘Twas plain for all to see.
To all eyes fixed upon that match –
All save the referee’s…

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 In disbelief they press him,
Against him rant and rail.
With mouths most foul address him,
Alas, to no avail.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 No oath hurled from the dugout,
Cast coin, flung toilet roll,
No threat of death can sway the ref
Who’s disallowed a goal.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 5/2/05
Denys E. W. Jones
