Consolation

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When Turner’s Cross is shrouded in a drizzle,
Chilled by just a slight precipitation,
When Shels’ attacking flair just will not fizzle,
It’s hard to try and find some consolation.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 When passes go astray with regularity,
And in the Shed they dance in celebration,
When we never look like getting back to parity,
It’s hard to try and find some consolation.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 When we never really get our act together,
And the game does not fulfill our expectation,
When football is reflected in the weather,
It’s hard to try and find some consolation.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 When our long run versus Cork becomes a cropper,
And boldness is replaced by trepidation,
When we never really pressurise their stopper,
It’s hard to try and find some consolation.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 When David Crawley gets sent off unfairly,
O’Callaghan being felled by exhalation,
Poleaxed, though our full-back tips him barely,
It’s hard to try and find some consolation.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 We played the game like prisoners in fetters,
Who’d suffered twenty years incarceration.
But at least Cork, under Dolan, never beat us,
And that I find is quite a consolation.
