Cork City 2 Shels 0

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We could have played all night
Until the morning light
And still not scored a goal.
We should have notched a few
When we broke right through,
And maybe won it at a stroll.
Glenn and Jay just couldn’t link together,
They couldn’t make true contact with the leather.
We got our just reward,
We would never have scored
If we’d have played, played, played all night.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We could have played all night
And never got it right,
They said that our luck wasn’t in.
But we were up the creek,
Because we lacked technique
And a semblance of discipline.
Players didn’t live up to their billing,
Couldn’t score although the flesh was willing,
We carved the chances out
But wouldn’t end the drought,
If we’d have played, played, played all night.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We could have played all night
And showed a lot of fight,
But we’d still be thumped two nil.
Cork were no great shakes,
But hit us on the breaks,
With a show of finishing skill.
They kept their heads when chances were presented
All our hopes were well and truly dented
Despite our toil and sweat,
We wouldn’t find the net,
If we’d have played, played, played all night.

Notes

Knocked out of the semi-final of the Setanta Cup, and deservedly so, for not taking our chances
