Could it be a North East treble?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Undoubtedly Sunderland are now facing the drop,
But is that where the North East’s calamity will stop?
Can we truthfully say that the Boro are immune?
And, how about the other No Hopers, ‘The Toon?’

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A season of promise now looks such a disaster,
In need of the whip from the Boro’s ringmaster,
Despite the denials, the future looks barren,
In need of a miracle from dear Mr. McClaren.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We’re not really bothered and we’ll shed not a tear,
When it finally happens, up there by the Wear,
But, could Boro join them, along with ‘The Toon’?
Probably not, but don’t think we’re immune.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Some recent displays have brought nothing but jeers,
As the fans fear the worst: some have even shed tears,
Long and loud boos for displays most depressing,
Three points now, from anywhere, would be oh, such a blessing.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 We trounced Man. United: had the town on a high,
Now talk of survival’s not just pie in the sky,
McClaren’s quoted as saying that we’re now “in the trenches,”
Perhaps we’d do better with a team of good wenches.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Of course, no-one’s certain of what lies ahead,
And Boro, though gasping, aren’t yet anywhere near dead,
But the future looks bleak, let’s be all realistic,
So, a Happy New Year? I’m not too optimistic!
