Coventry City Divided

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 To watch my team play at home
I would have to travel away
a round trip of seventy miles
and usually on a Sunday.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But I just will not go
as I haven’t the desire nor will
so I won’t set foot in Northampton
not even to stand on Jimmy’s hill.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And I see that I’m not alone
as thousands are doing the same
so until we return to the Ricoh
we won’t be attending a “home” game.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We need to be here in Coventry
and not in someone else’s town
so what are the owners trying to do
drag our beloved club even further down ?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 If they are, they’re doing a good job
as you’re dividing us supporters apart
but you don’t care about Coventry City
as you have no conscience or heart !

Notes

Our fight against the owners drags on and on with no sign of peace talks between the men in suits.

And now fans are turning against each other calling each other Scabs etc, and even punches being thrown at a game last week.

The Jimmy’s hill I mentioned is a mound outside Northampton’s ground where a couple of hundred Cov fans watch the match from instead of going inside.

They won’t pay as it is not going to our club but into the pockets of others.

I’ve only been to one match this season away at Shrewsbury as I won’t go to Sixfields, and as the majority want to go to away games now, tickets are snapped up really fast.

So all in all it’s thanks to the owners who put us in this mess that we can’t or won’t see our team play this season.
