Dad’s Advice

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 “If you go up to get the Cup,
Don’t only lift it halfway up,
Half-heartedly, as if uncool
To lift the trophy for your school.
But rather, grasp the handles tight
And raise it high with all your might,
Then bring it down and plant a kiss
Upon its shiny rim – like this.
Then stretch your arms again up high,
Display its glory to the sky.
Let photographs in time display
The utmost joy of that fine day.”

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Thus did my father waste his breath –
We lost the match in sudden death.
