Dancing On The Ceiling

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Lucky scarf carefully draped
A Liver Bird stood proud on my chest
At half-time I sat bewildered
Teenage sons quiet and depressed
Searching for some encouragement
So difficult at three-nil down
Funny old game though, this football
Soon smiles were replacing the frowns
An early goal from Gerrard, set us on our way
Hope returned with Vladimir’s parting shot
Gattuso stopped The Captain in his tracks
And Alonso placed the ball on the spot
Smashed hard and low but Dida did well
Destiny, I thought, as Xabi wheeled away
Then a white-knuckle ride to the shoot-out
Where big Jerzy had The Final say
Together we leapt from our armchairs
Brought the house down with the noise
How proud I was to share that moment
With my arms around my two boys
