Day 02 Sonnet : party, party

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 dead keen, rarin’ to go, feeling all ale and hearty
we hosted our very own, World Cup breakfast party
a hungry, animated, cast of dozens
friends, neighbours and kissing cousins
all excitedly wondering, how our Boys in Green
would fare, without the inspirational Roy Keane
so, settled in front of the telly, with a full Irish in our laps
we watched in horror, as the lads, played like saps
then in the second half, a complete turn around
an equaliser from Mattie Holland, to the cacophonous sound
of so many ecstatic fans, chanting and cheering out loud
such great ambassadors, enjoying the craic, they did their country proud
and so an honourable draw, versus the Cameroon, to cap an incredible week
but for this aspiring team, disappointment, for it’s better results they now seek

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Day 2 : other results

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Day 1, oh what a shock
Those betting on the favourites
Will now have to take stock

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 As unfancied Senegal
Took on and beat, reigning champions France
The athletic Africans, will certainly be walking tall

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Day 2, Uruguay lose 2-1 to Denmark
Jon Dahl Tommasson, didn’t cut it at Newcastle
But his brace today, certainly provided the spark

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 In the mis-match of the day, the Germans score eight
To no reply, Klose netting a hat-trick
But the Saudi’s, certainly weren’t great

Notes

For the record :

I’m going to attempt a Daily World Cup diary, in some form of verse or prose

Senegal 1 France 0
Ireland 1 Cameroon 1
Germany 8 Saudi Arabia 0
Denmark 2 Uruguay 1
