Disappointment

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Before the Wembley final
We polished only urinals
We had no other silverware
Stainless steel lavs provided the flair
But on that sun drenched Saturday
For the FA Cup we went to play
The team we faced had won the lot
We – the underdogs – had not
Tension lifted each time we scored
This was easy, we just had to applaud
At last we’d be in the history books
We’d try to forget how long it took
Remember this is fictional – purely
The teams had swapped shirts – ninety minutes early

Notes

Oh well…
Norwich City are in the relegation zone for the first time this season.
As folk round here say ‘the only way is ..down’
I’m sure I’ll cheer up once spring arrives …!
