Discover Ireland

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 All across this fair island
We’ll roam like the hare.
As we skirt the cliff ledges
And old hawthorn hedges.
And we’ll cross fairy pastures
With never a care
O’er hills of black granite
To the cry of the gannet.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 And the sun in the heavens
Will wipe our tired brow,
With a strong wind behind us,
Who knows where you’ll find us?
Though our feet may be weary,
We’ll get there somehow,
And the volume of traffic’ll
Be quite geographical.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We’ll run with the foxes
And bark with the toads
Along the green byways
That link major highways,
As we shun the bright cities
And take to the roads
Amid the derision
Of the Premier Division.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 To follow the Redsmen
Through thick and through thin,
Our lives are devoted,
Though crushed and demoted.
In search of a draw
Or improbable win,
We’ll get out the compass
And thick Aran jumpers.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 From Dundalk to Wexford,
From Athlone to Cobh,
And marbled Kilkenny
Where distractions are many
With a song on our lips
Oh so gaily we’ll rove,
And meet no resistance
For we’ll go the full distance.
