Do the old folk still speak
Of his pow’rful physique?
Do they see there’s a debt that’s still owed?

Do they still reminisce ‘bout his skill?
Do the praises still ring
For his flair down the wing,
Drop a shoulder and skin them at will?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 How has history treated Alan Skirton?
Is his name just a word on a page?
Another sport it was then
Played by good, honest men,
Stuck for good in a far-distant age?

Harry Johnstone, Ewan Fenton, George Farm.
Do the mem’ries remain?
Will their names rise again,
Well cocooned from revision and harm?
