Dogfight I & II

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 There’s four trapped
But there’ll be just one escapee
Which club will be lucky enough
To be fielding Harry Houdini?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Dogfight II

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Actually,
there’s no canines, in this caper

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Just 3 birds,
the Canaries, Throstles and Eagles :
all preyed upon and prayed for –
glued fast
to a perch labelled relegation

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Joining them, as cuttlebone
the South coast Saints

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So who is it will fly the dreaded coop?
They need talent, not talons now.
Will it be the powerful wing(er)s
of the avian squads,
or will we see the beatific stripes
acsending to the Gods?

Notes

Dedicated to the fans of the four teams battling it out on
‘Survival Sunday’ for Premiership survival on the last day
of the 2004 / 2005 season.

Norwich, Palace, Southampton and West Brom the 4 clubs involved.

Nailing my colours – I’d like to see S B Ingle writing Premiership prose next season – sorry JJ.
