Draw Yer Own Conclusions!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Of course they came to stifle us
And stop our passing game
Our keeper was superfluous
In the eighty minutes played.*

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 When you’re at home
All stood there know
Yer visitors will dig in.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Would we exact
All out attack,
Away, in their predicament?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Their canny stand in manager
Had set them up for a draw
Every time they sensed a danger
His plan was… shut the door.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Looking at the game as a football fan
Who see’s the bigger picture
I have to say that I really enjoyed
A barren, goal-less fixture.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 To defend, is quite an art we’re told
I’d go along with that
Whilst admirably raising me hat to Joe
For his strategy last Saturday.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 A closing note on the travelling Toon
Who ventured out in their thousands
If our club’s future were shrouded in gloom
Would we’ve made the long haul southwards?

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Ceaseless with their frenzied singing
The silent home fans were put to shame
Though they never looked like winning
Such admirable pride in their side,
Very nigh eclipsed, me enjoyment of the game!

Notes

Not all nil nill draws are thrill-less bores!

*I don’t know if Petr Cech had to make a save, or if Newcastle had a chance in the first ten minutes, cos I was stuck fast in London traffic, (for over two %$&*^%$ hours!) arrived at the game late, and have not seen the highlights prior to writing this.

What more can one say of the travelling Toon,
That hasn’t already been said?
Ownership in doubt, an m.d who want’s out
Yet they still sing out loud in The Shed!
