Dublin Floods October 2002

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 All week long, it rained and rained,
Re-writing record books,
The sodden populace complained,
Except, of course, the ducks.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The River Tolka rose and rose,
And Tolka Park got flooded,
They cancelled our league game with Bohs
Because the pitch was “muddied”.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The Shelbourne backroom personnel
Assembled in the dark,
Someone, wading through the swell,
Began to build an ark.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Water, water, everywhere
And not a drop of drink.
The bar was under water, there
Was such a dreadful stink.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 In the washed-out changing room,
No neon lighting shone,
And then, amid the mounting gloom,
The floodlights were turned on.
