Dumped out the Cup

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Surrounded by empty seats
mates not bothering to turn up
even our drummer boy was absent
welcome to the Third round of the Cup.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Still at least I could sit where I liked
and even the stewards were polite
they seemed to enjoy the emptiness
but to me it just didn’t seem right.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Outside there was a big demonstration
our fans wanting the owners out
I felt like I crossed a picket line
when I heard a “come and join us” shout.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But I don’t understand the business side
it just goes over the top of my head
and even though I back what they’re doing
I just want to watch the football instead.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Inside we took a very early lead
so was this going to be our day ?
for an hour we were the better team
then they scored against the run of play.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Then they scored a flukey winner
so that’s us for yet another year
and while the protest was still going on
I said good luck and went off for a beer.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Still we can now concentrate on survival
win some league games and move on up
the main thing is staying in the Championship
anyway we’ve already won the F.A.Cup !

Notes

The Ricoh had more of our fans outside than inside on Saturday.
But even though I understand the fans anger at what’s happening at our club I know from experience that business people are not really football fans they are only in it for themselves.

So I’ll just hope that things get sorted out soon because all I care about is my club as us fans will always be there while these men in suits get their grubby hands on our money !
