Ecstasy and Agony

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 One person is feeling happy
another is having a cry,
while someone is ecstatic
a poor soul wants to die.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But it’s only football
and not life or death,
they’re not in hospital
and drawing their last breath.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 But football is important
to many it is their life,
some put it before all
even a long suffering wife.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 So when their team goes down
at the end of a long hard campaign,
a supporter can be distraught
and be full of anger and pain.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 To them it’s like a bereavement
that’s why they feel so low,
and it can take a long time
to get over this body blow.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Yet given space and time
their misery will go away,
and they’ll be back next season
to watch their beloved sides play.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 So well done to those going up
your team has done a really good job,
but please spare a thought for the fan
who just wants to sit there and sob !

Notes

It’s that time again when t.v. cameras like to zoom in to the crowds and capture a distraught fan crying at his clubs relegation.I’ve been through relegation from the Premier,Championship, and so that horrible feeling is one I know only too well. But I’ve always managed to keep myself together, but many just seem to let it all out. Yet come the next campaign it’s forgot about which really means the majority of us are masochists !
