Edgeley Park Heroes (1 to 11)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 These are all heroes’, through from my early days at Edgeley Park
Some played when times were bright, some played when times were dark
They are all players that wore shirts numbered 1 thru to 11
When even at the worst of times, EP was still my heaven

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 1. Alan Ogley at number 1, a County hero through and through
2. Haydock, Rutter, Connelly were great at number 2
3. Sherlock, Logan and ‘Toddy’ all tremendous at number 3
4. Stuart, Frain and Bennett, all good 4’s you will agree
5. Matt Woods lifted the Champions trophy whilst he was number 5, Tommy Sword and Mickey Flynn, kept the shirt alive
6. Young ‘Foggy’ and Billy Williams were the best at number 6
7. At 7 Jimbo scored the goals, whilst Johnny Price had all the tricks
8. Atkins, Marsden and ‘Wardy’ were my favourite numbers 8’s
9. Whilst at number 9 for the County, there’s been many many greats, Alun Armstrong, Barney Daniels, Les Bradd and Mickey Quinn, Jim Fryatt, Big Kevin Francis could always knock ‘em in
10. Prudham, Kevan, Beaumont and also Angell ‘Bert’, But my favourite, Terry Park, would always get the shirt
11. Amongst my favourite 11’s, Coyle and Kilner played out wide, and for their goal-scoring exploits Lee and Preece are in my side
12. Throughout my 40 years or so, I’ve never had a favourite ‘sub’, I just wanted them all to do their best, when playing for my club.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I know I’ve missed out some other ‘greats’, when choosing my best team
But these are my personal favourites, from all the players that I have seen
