Empty

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 You see us, in rows – blue, red, white; doesn’t matter.
We’re there, even so. Empty. Just moulded plastic line
On line, glinting in the sunshine, or under the floodlights.
Empty. We’re pricey, and the punters can’t fill us. They
Can’t afford us, we’re too expensive for the ordinary
Bloke who’s on low pay, or out of work. He won’t be
Shelling out his cash as the downturn bites. Empty.
No Gettting away from it, no disguising it – even on MOTD..

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Vacant, unoccupied. No happy-clappy bedecked Fan
To please the TV cameras. Maybe the Premiership is
Not so great, not so sexy, not so wonderful if you’re
In Blackburn, or Bolton, or Wigan for instance. Empty.
As for the lower leagues, even there you have to pay
Up over the odds. Don’t Clubs realise, don’t they care ?
We want to go, to support our team, but when it costs
So much, and money’s so tight what do you do ? Empty.
