England 2-2 Holland

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Gifting goals to Holland’s attack,
the chuckle brothers at the back,
except that there’s no cause to laugh
as England hopes take an early bath.
Although Defoe has scored two goals,
I’m more impressed by Carlton Cole;
his strength and workrate are unmatched,
it’s target-men who win the match,
more than any easy goal,
is those who fight and give their all.
Defoe had all his work done,
by Milner and his winding runs.
Friendlies are rarely ever boring,
no points to be had, but not worth ignoring.

Notes

I am generally of the opinion that taking Emile Heskey off the pitch is the same thing as waving the white flag of surrender. In fact even after Defoe (who replaced him) scored twice I still think the same thing because all the hard part of both goals was done by Milner and Cole. Is there room for two big target-men to play alongside each other for England? Would a Heskey-C.Cole pairing work? Because the best two individual forwards for England are undoubtedly Heskey and Cole.
