The Chelsea skipper tries to suppress a smile
But his unseen hands are – where?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Models in tandem on the catwalk
Yet in reality only a fantasy pairing
But is this really the best way
For Sven’s men to be preparing?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Is this all really necessary
While on official World Cup duty –
To be out (st)rutting
In the presence of an International beauty?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 So, being a lifelong fan, a true blue –
Of Chelsea, (not smut)
I’d love to swap places with JT
But the missus would do her nut!

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 And should the models be sharing a dressing room
Or JT offers to swap shirts
He’d just better not overstep the mark –
cos where Rachel could kick a ball – it hurts!

Notes

the unveiling of the new England strip, Wednesday 23rd March 2005.
Looking at pictures of the kit, on the BBC website, set my mind racing!

Absolutely no disrespect meant to women’s football –
on the contrary, I’ve been very impressed with the standard of Ladies football – it’s not shown enough on tv.
And the England and Arsenal skipper came across very well when appearing on MotD2 this season.

* A deliberate juxtaposition of words – and also the wordplay that set the poem in motion.
