Engraved Name In Gold Is Of ..Spain.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Sad what if’s and could haves or maybes
Will last till the new season lands
Engraved golden name is that rightly of Spain
After breeching the Netherlands dam.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 “Both teams had some chances”
As Rafa would say, when pressed for his view on the game
With more cards than a factory about to cease trading
Waved during the one twenty played.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A classic? Not really, such games rarely are
When Utopia’s there to be grasped
As The Netherlands focus on stifling Spain
With a style left us purists aghast.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 What had gone on all night had failed to excite
As proceedings stop started at will
Van Bommel hacked most things that came within sight
Including referee Howard Webb’s heel.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 There were loud shouts of “Goal”, as Casillas’ sole,
Denied Robben his chance at nought all
Then with Puyol out paced he would miss once again
Which will haunt him on telly tomorrow.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Had The Dutch played their game, would end result be the same
As The Spanish jet off home with Rimet.
Who knows but in adopting an alien style built on all out…containing
They missed their big chance, so it’s difficult on reflection to say.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Catalonia hails a new hero
As Iniesta scores with four minutes left
While Spain remembered Dani Jarque, siempre con nosotros*
Emblazoned proudly on the goalscorers chest.

Notes

Many congratulations to Spain and although I throughly enjoyed the final, I can’t quite understand Holland not going for it, in the style that after all had got them there in the first place? Are they destined to always be a bridesmaid?

*I hope my Spanish is correct, the message on Iniesta’s singlet should translate as: Always With Us. In memory of Dani Jarque.

Peace.

Kev.
