I don’t care who wins, so I’m staying neutral
And as to our absence
I’m sure the feeling’s mutual

To watch from afar
So who is it I reckon
Will have the last ‘hurrah!’?

For I cannot choose out of six

I’m confident I’m not going out on a limb
Greece will definately not repeat their victory
And there’s another 9 I’m sure we can trim

And there’ll be no Turkish delight
Both Poland and Romania
Should book an early departure flight

Any of the minnows emerging
No hope at all for mein hosts
However much adrenaline may be surging

I’ll try to whittle it down to six

Would all be a good outside bet
But the bookies are all indoors
So it’s not where I’ll put my money yet

I cannot choose from the remaining six

Spain, like England, are perennial underachievers
And you’d certainy fancy Portugal more
If they busied themselves like beavers

“Our Ronnie ”
And they’re well backed
So their chances could be rated as ‘bonnie’

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Maybe I’ll have a game of pooh sticks
To help me choose just one out of six

Nor Italy as World Champs
Will Milan be the Euro cup destination
Along with Frankie Lamps?

Will it be all va-va-voom?
Or is it the year (but not, I fear)
For the Oranjeboom?

But if I had to show my hand
And give you just one name, it would have to be …
