7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 They had to dance the Devil’s Dance
Where the Boxtrot
Was the deathmarch
From the centre circle
To the penalty spot
To either be the executioner
Or the condemned

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 He’s the player of the tournament
Quite clearly
And his team down to ten men –
So nearly
But a brave referee rescinds
An incorrect decision
I’m quite sure from the Dutch
There’ll be much derision
But the star of the show, the one catching the eye
Is wee Arshavin
Suspended for the first two games, but definately
Worth ‘avin
He’s a Nick Barmby look-a-like
But better still
He plays like Peter Beardsley – and as such –
Dares to thrill !

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 QF2 : Turkey 2 – 1 Croatia

13 Leave a comment on verse 13 0 Oh how I’d hate to be a Turk –
I’m not sure my heart could take the strain!
As they come back from the brink –
Again and again and again!

Notes

QF 4 :
Credit to Iker Casillas who saved 2 out of the 4 Italian penalties.
The slightly more adventurous team won through.
I think we’ll see a better semi final with Spain facing Russia.

Spain beat Russia 4-1 in the first group match – but now Russia have Arshavin, it’ll be a different game altogether!

QF3 :
Reference to the referee, who handed out a second yellow card to the Russian, Kolodin.
The linesman then indicated the ball had crossed the line (replays showed it hadn’t – replays also showed that Kolodin hadn’t actually made contact with the man either!)
The referee then over-ruled his own decision – giving a goal kick to Russia – and as the ball was (allegedly) out of play, the ball was dead and the (deemed) second yellow offence rescinded.
So Kolodin got to stay on the pitch – lucky man! (Although correct decision)
So two wrongs DID make a right!

QF2 :
Unbelievable!
Turkey have reached the semi-final of this Euro 2008 tournament, after being ahead in all their matches for a total of less than 4 minutes!
