Euro 2012 VII : all credit to disparaging comments….

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 David Pleat gives us the first line

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 “We’ve got some stiff, stodgy defenders on show”
Leaving free reign for the attackers
Let’s hope that it leads
To goals aplenty … and all of them crackers!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We’ve got some crusty, crinkly keepers out there
Not up on their toes
And pivotal playmakers running rampant
With gaps to expose

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 As long as there aren’t fickle, feckless forwards
Wasting a multitude of chances
For we want gleeful goals galore
And dodgy celebratory dances!

Euro 2012, day 6, Wednesday 13th June 2012

Group B

Denmark 2 – 3 Portugal

Holland 1 – 2 Germany

Caught that lovely(!?) line from David Pleat on BBC Sport Live Reporting, during the Denmark v Portugal game, the rest is just my own musing!

Surprisingly, it could also apply to the Dutch defenders, very poor. Whereas Mat Hummels looks like the standout defender so far.

as strange as it may seem, Holland with no points, still have a good chance of going through! (depending on results of course).

If they beat Portugal, and Germany beat Denmark, then Holland can qualify.

However, Germany only need one point to top the group… the cynic within me wonders if Germany will go for the point to kill two birds with one stone … top the group, and ensure the Dutch don’t make it through!

Whereas tonight, because of the first round of results, if Ireland lose, they’ll definately be out.
