Euro 2016 II

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The resurrected Red Dragon
breathed fire all across
the Gallic landscape;
the 3 Lions thought they had a tasty meal
of Russian bear
until Ursis clawed back
to equal footing;
they all fight to live another day;

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 now Panthera Leo
must re-group and ensure
that they hunt and corner
the Welsh wyvern
and that whoever starts in the side
can earn a place
in the Lion’s pride

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 There are certainties in Football:
England will always let you down
(both on and off the pitch)
and you don’t need the runes of a witch
to know, that Germany win
and write the Italians off, at your peril
or so says my Auntie Beryl
who prefers their swarthy Mediterranean looks
to the likes of Shrek or Frodo Wilshere
or Hendo and his crescendo, of ears;
it could all end in tears
and suffocating tear gas
if the fans don’t behave

Result highlights:

England 1-1 Russia
Wales 2-1 Slovakia
N Ireland 0-1 Poland
Rep Ireland 1-1 Sweden
