Fair Play

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Euro 2005
The womens tournament has been and gone
Leaving me to question
Do we shout ‘Man On’?
When the balls off target
Is it high, wide and pretty?
No male centres of petulance
No whining tantrums to pity
Do they skirt round the penalty box?
The phrase ‘chested down’ still the same?
What the women have clearly shown
Is how to play the game

Notes

Good tournament. Enjoyed the coverage on TV. It was quality. Not just the play, but also the players attitude and the way they handled the media spotlight. Note well, male counterparts. The English Premiership carries too many with much of celebrity, too little of cerebral.
