Fallin In Love With A Lover Called Football

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I met Football
Her colours shone out from her park
She wore a coat of many colours
Many numbers many badges and scarves
She came to play…

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I followed her
She walked tall and she ran with rhythm
She nutmegged and she scythed she lied
Recklessly she plunged me into chaos
Took my name and sold me a dream
And when the whistle blew
She stopped,

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 But not me I did not pause nor withdraw
I still waited
Drawing my breath on cheap tobacco
That like football was killing me
I wept I screamed I laughed I jeered and cried
For she had no more time for me
And football she found other lovers
With money and promises I could not give
And she kissed them thrilled them
And I was left
With my soul as bruised as my heart…

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The following Saturday at 3.00 p.m
I bumped into Football
And despite myself
Fell in love with her
All over again.
