Fans Get Striped Up…Again!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’m glad I didn’t purchase a ticket
I’m glad I caught up with me work
I’ve seen more commitment in a kick
A-bout, down on the common,
So the Greek team, got what they deserved.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Once more the punters were ripped off
Full price to watch, what was, a training game
As the Champions greed pours more cash in its coffers
Do loyal fans of our game feel the same?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Lawro said “Eleven of the travelling Greek fans
Would have given Chelsea a much better game”
From the highlights I saw, I’d have to agree with yer man
And what about the hordes of singing Greek fans who came?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Three nought down and well out of it
On the wireless the Greek singing went on
A few smashed plates, on a Zorba type tip
I swear you would have thought that they’d won!

Notes

“Striped Up” in cockney slang means to be well and truly ripped off. As the football fans were, yet again.

It’s funny how The Champions league rhymes with greed as well.

Listening to the wireless last night, as the match at Stamford Bridge, almost turned into a joke. And a pretty expensive joke if you’re a paying punter sat there watching, that is! I could’nt help but compare the match to say Nottingham Forest, who dropped every seat in the house to a fiver the other night, and the City Ground was rammed to the rafters with over twenty five thousand fans for a midweek league game!

Makes yer think don’t it?

No disrespect to the Greek team, but they ain’t exactly packed full of like…. household names are they?

So, lets just say for arguments sake, a tenner a head say across the board would have given some of those fans, who can’t raise the entry every week, a chance to see a CL game at an affordable price for a change, think of the great PR, as well!

After all it’s not as if the game can’t afford it, is it?

And far from continuing to have a go at my club, I have to say that free return travel for season ticket holders up to Barnsley for the cup tie this week-end is a very generous, albeit, long overdue gesture

peace
