first goal

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 technically not
my first ever goal
but in our fives league
finally, my feet were in control

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 starting 1-0 down
a player was late
but only 2 minutes gone
not 5, but no use staging debate

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 but a few minutes in
we were in front of the game
2 goals in 2 minutes
playing comparable to a flame

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 i never thought i’d
even manage to score
but to open the scoring
ah, it’s hard to ignore

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 when i think about it
it seemed to be effortless
i didn’t aim, nor measure power
but sailed past the keeper, nonetheless

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 then it’s funny how one thing
can put you on a high
but then the rest of the game
still on form, but ending with a sigh

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 but again, who cares?
as i’ve often said before
a score never matters
we played well, despite each sore.

Notes

“despite each sore.” – when i got home tonight i took off my long socks to discover on my right foot my under-sock covered in blood on one side! in a collision i’d had my foot stood on, and my toenail had cut right into the next toe. i think i’ll ensure my nails are short next time…

enjoyed my goal, i’m glad to finally have hit the target after endless frustration at myself.
