Flick to Kick

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Game of skill and manual dexterity;
inch high figures glued on to circular base
flicked into position.
Swerving effortlessly round bemused opponents,
their expressions grim, unchanging as the
featherlight ball is whisked away
for rapid srike on goal.
Keeper on stick reacts to
claw the blur away.
Corner wasted,
ball booted upfield by base only,
body having been detached from base
by human foul play.
Figure too fragile to survive
clumsy assault by fourteen stone human.
Goal when it comes strike
from fully forty five yards,
keeper rendered helpless by
unlikely series of deflections.
Everything possible in this game;
in this game you can live the dream:
watch Town beat all and sundry
in their amazing treble winning season.
