Football and Music

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Whene’er you read a profile of a football star these days,
Their lack of taste in music never ceases to amaze.
You’d swear that sport and music must be mutually exclusive,
For the CDs that he purchases are bland and unobtrusive.
There is a law that governs this; and this rule clearly states
That as your feet grow talented, your ear deteriorates.
So, international superstars invariably possess
A dreadful taste in music that is taken to excess.
In the Porsche or in the pad, whene’er the hi-fi is turned on,
It’s Chris de Burgh or Michael Bolton, even Elton John.
How can they be so talented within the football sphere,
Yet be so undemanding in the music that they hear?
