Football memories

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We talk of our favourite music
From classical to swing
We talk of Bobby Mitchell
Weaving his magic down the wing’
We talk of building warships
In the shipyards on the Tyne
We talk of Ivor Allchurch
With his ball control sublime.
We talk of our racing pigeons
And the greyhounds we used to race
We talk of Albert Stubbins
And ‘Wor Jackie’s’ blistering pace.
We talk of Mathews and Mortenson
In the Blackpool tangerine
And who was the strongest in the air
Tommy Lawton or ‘Dixie’ Dean.
The passage of time may have left It’s mark
But our memories still burn bright
As we reminisce over a pint together
Down the club each Saturday night.
