For Our Mate Joe!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Joe stood in the sacred sactuary
That’s known as “The Shed”
Taking in the match
But decked out in the uniform
Of the U.S confederacy
Isn’t that a little O.T.T?
Perhaps!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But when you’ve a fancy dress party
To go to later that night
With no time to go home to change
Who cares what you wear when you go the match
Thats why no-one battered an eyelid up in “The Shed”
As all eyes were on the game!

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Joe’s ma and da have died eighteen times
May their souls now rest in peace
It seems that every time Chelsea
Have an important away tie in one of the cups
Joe’s parents get re-deceased!

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 His guvnor must be one hell of a gent
To accomodate Joe’s woe
But to catch Fairport Convention gigs
And Chelsea games on the back of a death
May seem a trifle morbid to the likes of you and me
But it matters not a jot to Joe!

Notes

Here’s a couple of poems that I’ve just written for a fellow blue boy and a good mate of ours who’s battling cancer of the liver with such dignity and a positive attitude it’s mind blowing and humbling.

Life, as they say goes on and Joe is not sitting about moping on his bad luck or ill fortune, he’s just come back from Germany after seeing the England v Portugal tie and had nothing but great things to say about the England fans behavior and how they got right behind the team despite it all going pear shaped, something the press seemed reluctant to tell us.

So these are for you Joe, me son as we say in the smoke. I’m sure the next ops gonna be a great success just like the first one was and long may we share your terrific witty and dour company on hippy holidays at The Croperdy Festival and at the Bridge!

peace.

kev.
