Free the Anna Livia One!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Here’s a fact you might not know,
A piece of football trivia –
There’s something evil apropos
The scene at Anna Livia.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Justin, I have been informed,
Does not enjoy his freedom.
Although he’s tragically deformed,
The lads think they might need ‘im.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 He’s shackled to the studio
With chains of solid metal,
And fed on scraps throughout the show,
If Bill is in fine fettle.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 His body has a musty whiff,
His mind has been corrupted,
He knows he’ll get a beating if
Bill Bagster’s interrupted.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 They claim that he’s an errant knave,
Deserving flagellation,
And treat him as a grotesque slave
Without justification.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 They blame him for each little hitch,
And thrash him just for fun,
Abuse him for each minor glitch –
The Anna Livia One.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 He cowers at Bill’s vicious tongue,
And cries whene’er he’s slated,
So sad for someone oh so young
To be so castigated.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 They threaten to put out his eyes,
To use the red hot poker.
Quasimodo in disguise,
Malformed and mediocre.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Niall and Howard row in behind
The Gruppenfuhrer Bill,
Oberleutnants both assigned
To do his evil will.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 So join with me in my campaign,
As all good people must.
Let’s show the lads our strong disdain –
Cry, Freedom for the Just!

Notes

On the Absolute Game on Anna Livia 103.2 fm, the only decent eircom league radio programme in Ireland, sound engineer Justin routinely comes in for a hard time…
