Free Trials and Tribulations

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Though it pains me to say
I relived every kick
Fraught, wound up, drained
Chewed my nails to the quick.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I aimed such abuse at the small screen
That her ‘cross the way phoned us up
“Was there really the need for Kev screaming
As Tiger was making that putt?”.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The Open, Tiger Woods had sent me do lally?
Get away, not a chance, do be brief
We’ve a thirty day free trail with Chelsea TV
Just showed our exit from the Champions League.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Our daughter’s to blame for my watching this game
It was her flung the fat on the fire
Sitting there smiling as Iniesta’s strike flies in
Re-igniting her poor fathers ire.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 “Why did you agree, to having that free trial
This had better be good, where’s your reason?”
“Aw dad don’t be silly” she says with a smile
“You’ll go Cold Turkey in a boring close season!”

Notes

Getting home from work, late last night. I find our daughter with the zapper (remote control) smiling, and sat watching……Chelsea TV.

As much as I loathe football club channels and refuse to subscribe to them, (our daughter does though) within minutes I was all ears and eyes. You may call me a hypocrite, but a football fan does need a fix to get them through: Gary Lineker and The Open, Wimbledoom, The First Test (whatever that is), and all the other rubbish on the telly, in order to prepare their vocal chords, pulse and heart rate for the forth-coming football seasons trails and tribulations.

Even if they’re set off by replays of highly emotional away goal defeats in the Champions League!

Peace

Kev.
