From A Look To The Bench.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Me number’s gone up on the monitor
International, club captain wears eight
Thats the first time this season my number
In lights, tells me “Hey La yer out of the game”.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The gaffer’s decided to sub me,
Straight up he’s pulling me off
What have I done? Maybe just not enough?
I’m so whacked out from too many games.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I’m the first name that goes on the team sheet
I’m the academy idol made good
How will it look to the kids in the seats
Me sat with the stiffs in track suits?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 There must be some mistake
As the armband I take
Off and pass on to a team-mate.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Then I trudge to the touch line to shake hands with him
Who’s taking me place in the fray
Then I pass by the gaffer shrugging his shoulders
As if to say “Son it’s just been one of those days”.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Taking a swig of me water I’m passive
Anger’s receded to calm
As the camera zooms in, I’m relaxing
With the Hello made face that beams charm.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 I look to the fans
Who to a woman and man
Applaud loudly to let me know it’s o.k

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 As they turn on the gaffer
Venting their anger
And look down at the dug-out amazed!

Notes

As Steven Gerrard was tugged in the Deby match yesterday. He was not a happy bunny, judging by the look that he directed toward the bench.

L’Pool fans didn’t exactly look best pleased by the managers decision either come to think of it. When the camera’s zoomed in on the away crowd, I clearly saw ” What’s he (Benitez) doing now?” On a few lips. Or words to that effect!

After what for Gerrard and his other England co stars has been a pretty interesting week, how would you feel?

Having flown in from God knows where with very little kip, trained and gone out to an early kick off on the Saturday, only to be subbed. What goes through your mind and thats the gist of the poem.

Clattenberg has surely squared up the diabolical penalty decision he awarded to Chelsea at Anfield with three or four truly mind blowing decisions in this game, hasn’t he?

The old saying of over a season these things even-ing themselves out was never more in evidence than today was it?

The bloke as they say… is just not up to it and was found well wanting.
