From nowhere

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 There’s stuff in my head
That I didn’t even know was there
Buried in the attic
T’wasn’t meant to share

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Like, I watch a movie
It ends with a tune
Hadn’t heard it for donkeys
But soon I’m singing like a loon

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Then I watch a match from the archives
Where the sound has been lost
But I commentate from memory
Not a name has been tossed

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Surname, forename, nickname
They all flow off the tongue
I doubt there’s a moniker out of place
Since my watching was begun

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 And seeing as I was there
From whence there was the ‘Chopper’
It shouldn’t be hard to believe
My mind’s not fit and proper

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 For I fail a lot of tests
The neurons marked as ‘contused’
But when it comes to footy
There’s no way I’m confused

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 With nary a teamsheet
I’m right with every name that I utter
No cross-checking required
For I am that nerdy nutter

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 So when I say that Ossie
Was the king of all Kings
You better join with me
And bask in all the joy that it brings!

Notes

Believe it or not, I wrote this after watching a particular movie for the first time.
The outtro tune, was ‘Just Got Lucky’ by the Jo Boxers.
Hadn’t heard from them in a million years, yet still instantaneously launched into the ‘Boxer Beat!”

Not sure if I’m more sad than the character played by Steve Carell in the movie.
(Name that movie).

Of course, being the footy nerd that I am, I immediately wonder if the writer of that particular tune (Chris Bostock), is any relation to the young Spurs starlet – John Bostock (that they pinched from Palace but haven’t played him yet!)
