From the Shores of Deportivo

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 From the shores of Deportivo to the windswept Brandywell,
A journey of a thousand miles of deep Atlantic swell.
Forewarned we were of torture by the tolling of the bell,
Marking time so slowly in a strange, macabre knell,
Pre-destined fate that only outright vict’ry could dispel,
But sadly ‘twas our enemies did mightily excel.
Sweet Lucifer was bathed in golden sunshine ‘ere he fell,
Suffering such agonies that nobody could quell,
Plummeting from heaven in a crazy tarantelle,
Facial lines contorted in a frenzied, silent yell.
As heroes of antiquity so tragically do tell,
To glimpse the lights of heaven is to stoke the fires of hell.

Notes

4 days after our heroics in A Coruna, we’re dumped out of the Cup by Derry.
