Funny Old Week.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 To be honest
There’s not that much happening
Apart from that odd Fergie strop.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Which Soho Square gin and tonics
Zimmer frames crashing
Will gloss over with a load of old tosh.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A nation has booked
It’s millionaires seats
So our hopes rest with those who will go.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 In The Ukraine, Capello will be having a look
As the periphery compete
For that last chance to go to “The Show”.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Chelsea sit top
Of “The Premiership”
Harry’s Redknapp’s been branded a crook.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Transpires what was lost
From some clubs transfer kitty
Ain’t shown up in his Post Office book.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 A cracking match
Last week in West London
When the Redmen et al came to town.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Perhaps
On another beautiful Sunday
They might have just turned it around?

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 One morning
On a train to the city
It might have been Wednesday I think.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 I looked at a half screwed up broadsheet
Where some news hound from Fleet Street
Took an almighty swipe at Benitez.

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 Are The Redmen
In serious trouble
Is Rafa about to be sacked?

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Or is the poisonous pen
Of our no knowledge rabble
Insisting a hard working man face the axe?

Notes

Over coffee after last weeks blinding game (see previous poem) the chaps and myself were in agreement, a fair few of the managers in our beautiful game at one time or another were, even still are crooks of the lowest order alongside a few players it has to be said, if I’m to point the finger at anybody.

Gooner George Graham is just one prime example who commited the cardinal sin of getting caught with his hand in a little brown envelope. This latest little mud slinging will hang around until Harry Redknapp resigns or is proved to be a total implicant(sic).

Sir Alex Abject Ferguson does what he does and says what he says because he knows he can get away with it, simple as that. How long could anyone else get away with refusing to talk to the Beeb and MotD like he does? After all televison in a round about way pays his wages and supports his comfortable lifestyle does it not?

The printed attack on Rafa Benitez, on the other hand, in one of the broadsheets was just mind blowing in its intensity, two large headlined pages in black bold type castigating his leadership qualities, training methods and what have you.

I was at Stamford Bridge last week and watched the whole of ninety four minutes of an exciting game, were and are Liverpool a bad side! Not at all, having lost three league games(I think) their seasons over now, done and dusted according to what paper you read and Rafa Benitez is heading toward the rock and roll (Dole).

This is not the first time I’ve had a pop at these hacks who seem more interested in going for the jugular rather than checking out the facts and reporting them honestly, but by having a pop three days after a game, at a manager tells me England’s early qualification for the World Cup may have queered their pitch somewhat (sic) so much that they’ve nothing negative to write about and have decided to make it up as they go along!

Peace.

Kev.
