Gentleman Dave

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 David Price was very “nice”.
He didn’t have a single vice.
He never drank and never smoked,
Or so his sneering team mates joked.
He always went in fair and hard,
And never got a yellow card.
Played the game with sweet precision,
Accepted every bad decision,
Never to be heard complaining,
When called in for extra training,
Never kicked the ball away
When the referee stopped play,
Never mouthed to get a free,
Nor fell unnecessarily,
He only dreamed such noble thoughts
And wore his shirt inside his shorts.
Not for him wild celebrations,
A handshake and “Congratulations.”
Such a model professional
Never seen in the confessional.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Which is why, when poor Dave died,
No-one mourned at his graveside.
