Germany v South Korea

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 After pointing his digit at team-mates
Who disappeared in the previous game
Mats Hummel’s wasted enough chances to put this one away
So it’s down to him now, to shoulder the blame.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Their sweeper keeper Neuer, clearly found wanting,
Recently back from a serious injury scare
Came up for a corner, behind at one nothing,
and fancied he’d see the game out playing there.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Losing possession outside of their box
Bemused when their winner rolled in to his unguarded net?
Truth is their bolt was long shot before his nut lost the plot
Against an opponent carrying a continual threat.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The South Koreans impressed me immensely
While their keeper performed out of his skin
Calmly suggesting an under-fire referee
Review VAR? A politeness too rarely seen.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So…Bogey Low’s Germans are out, and without a doubt
The morrows back pages will be well worth a reading
So I’ve made up this last rhyme from a time Ingerland got knocked out…
“Can, BMW, Volkswagon. Mercedes, Kraftwerk,
Franz Beckenbauer, Lothar Matthias, H.H Kirst,
Adidas, Karl Heinze Schnellinger
Boris Becker, Angela Merkel (etcetera, etcetera)…
Your boys took a hell of a beating”!

Notes

A blinding match…for the neutral, and the first big upset thus far. Lets hope there’s many more to come? The fall-out – from this result back in Germany – will be massive front and back page news, and I’ve a feeling Bogey Low will go (excuse the pun). Even if he has just signed an extended new contract.

Go well, be lucky and keep smiling.

Peace.
