Get Me Out Of Here

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 get me out of here
I must away
this office this desk
some prison today

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 how lucky am I
no locks and no keys
the gift to be free
and to do as I please

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 no lights going out
save the moon in my sky
we never say thank you
we only ask why?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 as here now alone
how grateful
how privileged
this life
today or any day
where love wakes us
and time finds us

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 and for one day only
Banana Beach calls
my sea taxi awaits
blinded in sparkles and spray
that perfect sunset – different each night
Vromolimnos at dawn – different each day
feta olives and peace
a welcome break from all we create

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 so get me away now
I’m dreadful at home
I can draw i can lose
but I can’t win alone

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 but for now
look
can you see…
there is nothing to worry on
except menus
how warm the water is
and more important than all

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 will anyone show the Charlton game?

Notes

for Louise for inviting us

Wrote this on getting excited at getting late holiday deal and on also being invited the same day (along with Charlton football poet and publisher Ted Smith Orr) to run two football poetry workshops on celebrating cultural diversity in Two Welsh secure prisons. Another couple of big matches coming up there then. Always the next one to focus on.
