Get Up. Stand Up! For The Anthems.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I can hardly wait
For the wonderful anthems
A linking of arms
A poignant tear in the eye.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 At the start
Of each game
I admire the Love shown for one’s Nation,
By emotional singing and looks to the sky.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I’m often puzzled
When watching a team on occasion
Whose players
Don’t, won’t or quite simply can’t sing the words.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 My brain gets further befuddled
At this seemingly lack of emotion
When singing an anthem as one together
Quite clearly shows that the team has accord (sic)

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 While South America’s
Wonderful rousing renditions
Remind me of those Mexican films
Of my teens.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Then Brazil and Italia’s
Elegant brass band compositions
Inspire two thoughts within me;
Great national anthem = great football team.

So bring on The National Anthems. I get kind of emotional listening to any one of them. Blinding!

Are there no words to Spain’s National Anthem or is it just me?
