Getting Real

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When the season started
We were hopeful of survival
Rampant expectation
Our chants were loud and tribal
When the autumn came
We had gorged on defeat
We downscaled our wishes
To a point and a clean sheet
Now we’re at rock bottom
Last of the bottom three
Looking to go to 18th place
Relegation with dignity!

Notes

I haven’t given up hope of staying up but I do remember relegation the last time round and there’s a familiar something in the air. We have a good stadium but debts of 23 million so we’ve not been in a position to buy ourselves out of trouble. It’s no good having an umbrella if your shoes leak. We’re due to have a new home kit next season and there is truth in the rumour that it will be made from parachute silk.
