Girls

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Girls are playing football in the garden.
Soon the sun will disappear again.
Won’t be long until the schedule’s started;
keep them at the park ’til almost ten.
Said you’d show them something new for training;
spend a little time if you could spare.
Just a few more years, you’ll be complaining
it’s a crime that they’re no longer there.
Claire is eating better than she used to.
Gill is sprouting upward like a tree.
May not always do what they’re supposed to.
Guess all children want is to be free.
Nice, though, they still want to be together.
Hope they feel the same when we are old,
when the two of us become a bother.
Then they’ll always have a hand to hold.
Girls were playing football in the garden.
Sun’s now so far down that I can’t see.
Go on now and find out where they are, then
come back in and have a cup of tea.
