Where I’m taut to reed and right
So when I’m out in the big wide world
My chance is more than slight
Of getting a job that I’m happy in
One where I use my brain
I don’t want to end up as a nobody
Who’s life goes down the drain!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Going to ‘The football’ makes me wonder
Can all the players read?
If your gifted and so fleet of foot
Are your brain cells up to speed?

When I go to the match
I never buy a programme
I can’t read it so why would I need it
That would be a sham!

On the tannoy
Thank the lord for that
I can’t even tell who the players are
By the numbers on their backs

To not have had one
Would be a crying shame
So I can hope to get on in life
As well as enjoy the beautiful game!

Notes

I heard the figures this week on the radio about the amount of kids who are leaving school unable to read and write. It just blew my mind.

There’s some pretty well educated idols out there perhaps they should be encouraging the young that to read and write can be fun!
