Glory Glory William Ralph Dean

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Mine eyes have seen the Glory of the Blues at Wemberlee.
They first took me to Goodison when I was only three.
I heard them speak in hushed tones of the great William Ralph Dean.
For the Legend still lives on.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 He started out at Tranmere, but he soon became a Blue.
He played up front for Everton and for his Country too.
And unlike certain current stars, he saw his contract through.

The fans would sing and chant his name until they were quite hoarse.
As potent as a hurricane or some such natural force,
No goalie could thwart him.

Notes

I read P Maguire’s Glory Glory William Shankly, and in a spirit of friendly rivalry, was inspired to write this homage to Everton’s greatest player, William Ralph “Dixie” Dean, scorer of a record sixty goals in Season 1927-28.
