Goal(den) Wonder

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 My first ever goal
Was scored in the playground
I wasn’t even playing, just munching
While the big boys, were crunching
Tackles flying, ball skying
I was just an innocent bystander, a first year infant
I’d lost my bearings (and my marbles since)
There I was, too close to the white chalk lines
Etched into the schoolyard wall
Devouring salt’n’vinegar (Lineker wasn’t even born then)
But as I observed
A stray shot swerved
And went in off my chest
Scattering crumbs down into my vest
No wonder I was known forever after, as :
A ‘crisp’ finisher!
